FluxPMS vs Mews: No Quote Required, No Commitment Lock-In

Mews is a well-designed PMS used by design-forward boutiques and growing hotel groups. FluxPMS is a flat-rate all-in-one built for independent hotels that want a clear monthly bill, a built-in website, and an AI concierge without assembling a stack of add-ons. Mews does not publish its prices — their website confirms pricing is "tailored to your property" and requires a sales contact (https://www.mews.com/en/pricing). Independent reviews report starting costs around €300–€500/month for small properties (https://www.roommaster.com/blog/mews-pricing). FluxPMS is $29–$199/month, published, no call required.

The Tokenization Fee Issue

Mews charges a one-time fee every time a guest's card is stored in the system. For a 20-room property running at 70% occupancy, that's roughly 200–400 new cards stored per month. Multiply by the per-card fee, and this line item quietly adds to your total Mews cost beyond the base subscription. FluxPMS does not charge tokenization fees.

Where Mews Is the Better Pick

Be direct: Mews earns strong reviews for a reason.

Choose Mews if:

  • You're running a design-forward boutique that needs a polished, customizable booking experience and CSS-level control over the booking widget
  • Your tech team wants Open API access to build custom integrations (Mews Enterprise tier)
  • You're on Webflow, Squarespace, or a custom-built website and want JavaScript widget flexibility
  • You manage multiple properties and need Mews' mature multi-property dashboards
  • You care about deep POS integration and kiosk/self-check-in as a core feature today

Mews has one of the best-rated UIs in the PMS category and a strong developer ecosystem. If design and customization are non-negotiable, it's worth the higher price.

FluxPMS is the better fit when:

  • Your property is 10–50 rooms and you want a predictable, published monthly cost with no surprises
  • You want website + booking engine + channel manager + AI concierge in one bill
  • You don't want a 2-year commitment before you've validated the software fits your operation
  • You want to trial the full product yourself for 30 days without a sales call
  • You're in Guatemala or Central America and need FEL tax compliance out of the box

How to Migrate from Mews to FluxPMS

  1. Export your Mews data. In Mews Operations → Reports, export reservations, guests, and financial summaries. Mews provides CSV exports for most data sets. Contact Mews support for a full data export if you need historical guest profiles.
  1. Document your Marketplace integrations. List every connected tool in your Mews Marketplace (channel connections, payment gateway, revenue management). You'll need to reconnect or find equivalents in FluxPMS.
  1. Set up FluxPMS. Register at fluxpms.com/register and build room types, rate plans, and room inventory using the setup wizard. For a 20-room property, budget 3–5 hours.
  1. Reconnect your OTA channels. FluxPMS's channel manager connects directly to Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, and other major OTAs. Remap each channel — typically 10–15 minutes per channel.
  1. Switch your booking engine. Remove the Mews booking widget from your hotel website and embed the FluxPMS booking engine. If you move to FluxPMS's built-in website builder, this is automatic.
  1. Migrate in-house reservations. Any reservations already in Mews for future dates need to be manually entered or bulk-imported into FluxPMS before go-live.
  1. Cancel Mews. Check your contract notice period — Mews often requires written notice 30–90 days before the billing cycle ends, especially on annual or multi-year agreements.
